Description
No reserve - up for auction is a 1968 Epiphone Riviera guitar. This one is easy to describe...this is George Gruhn's appraisal for this guitar approximately two (2) years ago (April 21, 2006). I have had very little playing time, probably less than eight (8) hours, on this guitar since the appraisal. Here is his written description: "I have personally examined the instrument described below. We certify that the guitar described below is, in our opinion, an Epiphone Riviera model made in the year 1968. Description:  Serial number 5302XX. This guitar appears to be in exceptionally fine original condition. It conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with 16 inch wide double cutaway thin semi-hollow body constructed of laminated maple, mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with white binding and single parallelogram pearloid inlays, unbound peghead with Epiphone and decorative pearl peghead inlay, stylized E Epiphone peghead logo, white binding on the top and back edges of the body, two mini-humbucking Epiphone pickups, tune-o-matic bridge, Frequensator tailpiece, sunburst top finish, uniform dark walnut stain finish on the neck, back, and sides, white pickguard with Epiphone stylized E logo, and typical late 1960s type tone and volumn knobs. This instrument was made during the period in which Epiphone guitars were manufactured by Gibson in their Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. This guitar is currently set up with replica vintage style tuners; however, the owner has retained the original Kluson Deluxe gears. Current Market Value:  $4,500.00 (four thousand five hundred dollars)" Signed by George Gruhn What more can I say...this guitar is absolutely wonderful and in beautiful condition. It looks to me like the original hard shell case - which has wear on both exterior ends (see pic) but other than that it is in decent shape. I describe all items to the best of my ability. All items are sold as is and all sales are final. Therefore, if you have questions, please ask before bidding or purchase.
